Synopsis:
Ronald Reagan's daughter Patti Davis documents a life with cats in quirky style. Cat books are perennial bestsellers. This title is great for Mothers Day. Patti Davis has written a delightful illustrated memoir. Just 96 pages long, the book has 12 chapters, each of which fits on a single spread and is accompanied by a charming illustration. The chapters detail the lives of her two cats, Aretha and Skeeter. A self-proclaimed dog person, Davis was surprised one day to be adopted by the cat next door - a cat that was apparently dissatisfied with her current humans, and decided someone else would do a better job of catering to her needs. And so began an incredibly unique relationship between a woman who couldn't seem to let go of her "dogperson-ness" and a cat named Aretha who refused to believe her. After a romance that ended sadly(for Aretha, not Patti), Patti decided to go get another cat - "a kitten, so Aretha could retain her position as the resident diva." Enter Skeeter, mischievous, irrepressible, and ever so lovable. Twenty-six illustrations by celebrated artist Ward Schumaker give the book a whimsical, celebratory feel.
About the Author:
Patti Davis is the author of six books, most recently The Long Goodbye, a memoir of her late father, former President Ronald Reagan. Her articles have appeared in many magazines and newspapers. She lives in Los Angeles, where quite to her surprise and delight, she shares her home with two cats. Ward Schumaker is the author-illustrator of three children's books, including In My Garden . He lives in San Francisco.

Grand Eagle Retail

Book Description Hardcover. Condition: new. Schumaker, Ward (illustrator). Hardcover. Patti Davis didn't really adopt Aretha, her first cat. Aretha adopted Patti. When her second cat, Skeeter, moved in, Patti came to realize that she a self-avowed dog person was now officially in thrall to two very demanding little felines. In 12 short chapters, each delightfully illustrated by Ward Schumaker, the author recounts how her life was changed for the better by living with and learning from her cat companions. In "The Mouse That Got Away" Patti learns a valuable lesson about hope, and in "The Little Scoundrel" she realizes just how wrong a first impression can be. Davis closes each charming vignette with a "Life Lesson." The lessons, like the stories they illuminate, are thoughtful and perceptive. Davis has produced a small treasure of a book; it's sometimes wry, sometimes moving, always universal, and, most importantly, wise. In 12 short chapters, each delightfully illustrated by Ward Schumaker, Patti Davis, daughter of the late Ronald Reagan, recounts how her life has been changed for the better by living with and learning from her cat companions, Aretha and Skeeter. 26 color illustrations.
