Alvaro Maccioni s passion for his homeland of Tuscany, and the authentic recipes from that sublime region of Italy, has been on show at his famous London restaurant for more than forty years. La Famiglia: The Cookbook is Alvaro s long-awaited companion to seasonal Tuscan cooking and collects his favourite menus from a lifetime devoted to providing wonderful food for others. Throughout Tuscany s rich heritage, the family has always been at the beating heart of everyday life and within each season, especially at festivals and on feast days, different generations come together to enjoy company, and to cook and eat. The family food served is always of the season, supremely fresh and utterly delicious giving Alvaro his lifelong mantra: Fresco, fresco, fresco . Beginning with the tender tastes of spring and ending with the nourishing flavours of winter, Alvaro s cookbook includes authentic antipasti, pasta and risotto dishes; secondi piatti of meat, poultry and fish; and tempting dolci. The 125 recipes are clearly presented for home cooking and are accompanied by enticing photographs by the master photographer David Loftus. Collected from his farmhouse in Tuscany and adapted from his award-winning restaurant menu, the secrets of Alvaro s cooking will inspire a new generation of cooks who will appreciate the traditions of entertaining, sustaining and celebrating La Famiglia.

About the Author:
Alvaro Maccioni was the first Tuscan to bring the delicious flavours of his native homeland to the UK in the 1960s. In 1975, he opened La Famiglia, the celebrated Chelsea restaurant he still runs today with the help of his daughter Marietta. Married to his wife Letizia for fifty years, father to three children and now grandfather to seven, Alvaro is as much about his family as he is about his food - both of which he loves with irrepressible and undeniable passion. In 1996 Alvaro won first prize from the Golden Chef of Italy, the first time the prize has been awarded outside Italy itself.
