Now in a fully revised and updated second edition, this important work provides authoritative scientific and applied perspectives on the full range of paraphilias and other sexual behavior problems. For each major clinical syndrome, a chapter on psychopathology and theory is followed by a chapter on assessment and treatment.

Challenges in working with sex offenders are considered in depth. Thoroughly rewritten to reflect a decade of advances in the field, the second edition features many new chapters and new authors. New topics include an integrated etiological model, sexual deviance across the lifespan, Internet offenders, multiple paraphilias, neurobiological processes, the clinician as expert witness, and public health approaches.

Review:
"This book is an excellent overview of all aspects of sexual deviations. Its contributors are the foremost clinicians and researchers in the field, who do an excellent job of covering theory, research, and clinical applications. This book is enjoyable reading and should be on the desk--not the shelf--of all serious researchers and clinicians who work with sexual deviants. In my opinion, it is the best and most comprehensive book published on this topic to date." --Henry E. Adams, PhD, Research Professor, Department of Psychology, University of Georgia, Athens "This is the definitive guide to sexual deviance, as referred for help from the law courts....This is a scholarly, closely referenced, academic text. The chapters are organized to a uniform plan, making the extraction of information straightforward, even if the book is not read all the way through....Each of the chapters is written by a respected practitioner within its field, achieving a universally authoritative view on each of the pathological subjects covered....For therapists and medical staff seeing patients under the care of the courts this is a weighty and much needed addition to a very limited literature on assessment and treatment of a very difficult group of people." --"Sex and Marital Therapy" .,."Beautifully edited....The editors have assembled the finest authors in the field to contribute to this collection of treatises on various forms of sexual deviance....The editors are to be congratulated for compiling well-written, high-quality chapters that are uniform...an excellent guide for those in need of current information on sexual deviance, both for theory as well as for treatment. This is a book that puts it all together in one volume." --"Am J Psychiatry" .,."a valuable contribution to the field of clinical sexology. The contributors include many of the foremost clinical and research professionals in the area of sexual disorders....I have found myself using this book as a handy and valuable reference." --"Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease" "The chapter authors in this edited volume read like a who's who of paraphilia and sex offender treatment....The book is unique in scope....The practitioner or researcher can use this one book as a reference for anyparaphilia, readily finding current thinking on the disorder as well as thorough bibliographies for further reading....Will be a valuable addition to the paraphilia treatment specialist's bookshelf....Researchers in this area will find the psychopathology chapters useful in assessing the state of knowledge regarding taxonomy, prevalence, and theory development." --"Contemporary Psychology"
